Kelowna Rockets statement on the pause of the 2019-20 season
The Kelowna Rockets are fully supportive of the decision made today collectively by the Canadian Hockey League and Western Hockey League to suspend play this season until further notice.
The health and safety of our players, staff, guests and community, is of vital importance. We will continue to monitor information and developments provided by the Interior Health Authority, as well as other health authorities across our country.
Our organization will have more information for season ticket holders and ticket buyers in the near future, we hope to provide an update next week. We appreciate your understanding during these unprecedented events.
In the 20 years since moving to Kelowna, the Rockets have finished below .500 only four times and have claimed several division, conference and WHL Championship banners.
The Rockets won the WHL Championship in 2003, 2005 and 2009 and have won the WHL BC Division five times, including the past two seasons when the team set back to back records for regular season wins, with 52 in the 2012-13 season and 57 wins in the 2013-14 season.
A major part of the Kelowna business community, the Rockets annually support numerous local charities, from raising money for the Kelowna General Hospital through its annual alumni golf tournament to other charities, such as the Kelowna Food Bank, BrainTrust Canada, the Kelowna Firefighters and the Kelowna YMCA.
