Rock The Lake and Red Bird Brewing Announce Battle of the Bands Winners, Freeze The Fall and Rise Overrun
The announcement follows two sold-out nights at Red Bird Brewing on April 24th and 25th, featuring 10 competing bands
Rock The Lake Music Festival, produced by GSL Sports & Entertainment, is very excited to welcome local bands Freeze The Fall and Rise Overrun to the 2026 festival lineup. Both bands earned their spot on the lineup this past weekend, battling eight other BC bands for two paid slots to open for iconic Canadian talent like Alexisonfire and Cameron Whitcomb at the downtown Kelowna festival this July 10-12, outdoors at Prospera Place.
The decision was made by judges and organizers who watched 10 bands perform for a highly engaged, sold-out audience at Red Bird Brewing. GSL Sports & Entertainment, in partnership with Red Bird Brewing, developed the competition to showcase local and emerging talent, reinforcing the organization’s leadership in live entertainment in BC. This was the second Battle of the Bands hosted by the festival and brewery.
Freeze The Fall and Rise Overrun were chosen based on judging criteria and audience reaction, each impressing audiences with strong songwriting and stage presence.
“We thought narrowing a winner was going to be easier this time around since we’ve done it before,” said Battle of the Bands and Rock The Lake event organizers. “Once again, we were yet again blown away by the depth of extremely talented artists we have in the Okanagan and surrounding areas. Choosing just two bands to perform on the Rock The Lake stage was no easy task for our judges, but we’re confident the artists selected are going to impress our fans.”
Emerging teen power trio Freeze The Fall have quickly gained attention for their heavy, modern rock sound and fast-growing online following. The Kelowna group has built momentum through energetic live performances across the Okanagan, establishing themselves as one of the region’s rising young rock acts.
“Having an event like Rock the Lake in our own backyard is so exciting,” said Freeze The Fall. “We are beyond proud to be part of the lineup. We cannot wait to rock out with Kelowna!”
They’ll be joined on the lineup by Rise Overrun, an indie pop-rock group made up of local friends and UBCO students. Representing the next generation of Western Canadian talent, the band brings an energetic, emotionally driven sound as they look to make their mark on the Rock The Lake stage.
“We feel like true lucky ducks to be chosen to represent what the Kelowna music scene is made of in front of a home crowd,” said Rise Overrun. “It’s a real childhood dream come true for us to play at a festival with a lineup of this calibre, and to be happening in our hometown makes it so much sweeter. There were so many extremely talented bands that showed up this past weekend. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on our journey.”
