Following a highly successful debut event in 2024, Kelowna’s hockey event of the summer is set to return to Prospera Place on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Presented by Kelowna High Performance (KHP) with support from the GSL Sports & Entertainment, Kelowna Hockey Fest (KHF) brings hockey players, fans, families and friends together for an unforgettable celebration of Canada’s favourite game.
“Last year, we were blown away by the incredible support from our local community,” says Mark Fitzgerald, Co-Owner of Kelowna High Performance. “From sponsors and business partners to players, families, and fans, the pride and passion for hockey were undeniable. Our inaugural event not only brought the community together, but also created 90 local jobs, engaged 55 dedicated volunteers, and welcomed over 3,000 visitors to the free community event and Pro Game. We can’t wait to bring Kelowna Hockey Fest back this summer with some exciting new additions for our local hockey fans.”
As the event grows and becomes a cornerstone event for the city of Kelowna, community partners continue to be paramount to the event success. This year, KHF is proud to welcome back returning partners including Cwench Hydration, Pushor Mitchell, Stingray Radio, Kelm Communications, Delta Hotels Grand Okanagan Resort, and the Kelowna Rockets.
“We’re incredibly proud to support KHP’s Kelowna Hockey Fest again,” says Marlon Weidlich, Senior Director of Event Operations at GSL Sports & Entertainment. “Any way we can support bringing our community together is a massive win for our organization and doing it through our shared love of hockey is an added bonus. GSL is excited to continue building on our legacy of giving back and strengthening connections at home here in Kelowna.”
This year will once again feature a star-studded lineup of current NHL players, alumni and rising stars who will be led by an elite coaching staff, including Stanley Cup champions Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith, Hall of Famer Shea Weber, and the NHL’s first female coach, Jessica Campbell. Jessica, who has been a longtime partner of KHP and community supporter, is thrilled to be returning to Kelowna Hockey Fest once again. “I am excited to return to the great sports community of Kelowna where my coaching career began and join the KHP team for another great event. Mark it on your calendar now and join us this summer. Hockey Fest is an incredible day of the community coming together for a great cause, and a show on the ice you won’t want to miss!”
The Kelowna Hockey Fest festivities kick off at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 23rd with a free event outside of Prospera Place that is fun for the whole family. Featuring a kids zone brought to you by YMCA of Southern Interior BC, NHL Street Hockey, music from Stingray Radio, custom hockey cards from Player’s Choice Sports, local food trucks, merch tent and more, the Kelowna Hockey Fest team invites you to gather your friends, family, colleagues or teammates for a fun-filled afternoon.
The festivities culminate with the Kelowna Hockey Fest Pro Game set for a 5:00 PM puck drop at Prospera Place. Hockey fans will enjoy the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of their favourite NHL alumni and current players including last year’s team captains Brayden Schenn (St. Louis Blues) and Tyler Myers (Vancouver Canucks), plus Ethan Bear (Washington Capitals), Dustin Wolf (Calgary Flames) and Shea Theodore (Vegas Golden Knights), with more to be announced soon, who will compete alongside newly drafted young stars. The Pro Game also includes a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and chuck-a-puck with proceeds supporting the YMCA of Southern Interior of BC.
“We are excited to participate in this event once again with our free kids zone featuring bouncy castles, games and activities, NHL Street Hockey and more, ” says Tammie Watson, VP of Marketing & Philanthropy for the YMCA of Southern Interior BC. “Kelowna Hockey Fest is a fantastic opportunity for families to come together and enjoy a day full of excitement, and the event highlights the importance of children and youth in sports, fostering their growth and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Last year, over $20,000 was raised, providing local children and youth facing financial barriers with access to vital YMCA programs and services.”
