École Kelowna Secondary School Choir to Perform with Foreigner at Prospera Place
One local high school choir is about to have the experience of a lifetime. The École Kelowna Secondary School (KSS) Choir has been chosen to perform live on stage with legendary rock band Foreigner at Prospera Place on November 7, 2025, singing the band’s timeless hit “I Want to Know What Love Is.” The opportunity came through a contest launched by the iconic British-American rock band Foreigner, in collaboration with Prospera Place and K96.3 Classic Rock, encouraging high school choirs from across the Okanagan to submit performance videos for a chance to perform alongside the band responsible for countless hits. After reviewing entries and votes, K96.3 morning show hosts Brad & Alysha paid a surprise visit to the KSS choir’s rehearsal on Tuesday, October 7, to share the exciting news in front of the students and their teacher, Sheila French. “When I saw the ad, it was just like, obviously a no-brainer that I would enter my students into this competition because they need this experience,” said French. “I know it will change their lives. And I know that they’re going to love it… Absolutely everybody should be in a choir.” For KSS student Thomas Abresch, the announcement was a dream come true. “I’m really excited,” Abresch said. “I think my dad’s super pumped, this is definitely his jam, and it’s my jam too. I really love 80s music, and I really love Foreigner. I joined the choir in grade 10, and it immediately just felt super comfortable. I love singing. The program here is so fantastic, and the KSS choir is just a great community, great people.” The KSS Choir will take the stage with Foreigner on Friday, November 7, in front of thousands of fans at Prospera Place as part of the band’s The Juke Box Hero Tour with 54-40.
